Contest of Creative Works for Children from Orphanages, Child Homes and Social Shelters of Moscow and Moscow region.
 
On 26th of May 2009 an award ceremony for the winners of the creative contest – children from orphanages, child homes and social shelters for minors of Moscow and Moscow region – was held in the premises of the Federation for Peace and Conciliation in Moscow.
The contest of creative artistic works “Youth – for the World without Slavery” was organized in March – May 2009 within the activities of the counter-trafficking project among orphan children and children without parent’s care on the topic of prevention of human trafficking in cooperation with the National Anticriminal and Antiterrorist Foundation (NAAF).
The contest had a goal of disseminating preventive information about risks of human trafficking among orphan children and children without parents’ care as well as their teachers and educational specialists working in orphanages and child homes with the aim of preventing such vulnerable group of children from falling into the situations of human trafficking in future.
 
Prior to the announcement of the contest for children, the project specialists organized a thematic training for teachers basing on a methodological material - the Guide for teachers “Risks of Human Trafficking in the RF. Ways of Prevention”, developed within the educational component of the project.
The purpose of the training was to provide teachers, working with minors, with the theoretical information about the phenomenon of trafficking and examples of practical exercises to be used during future trainings in groups of their pupils (13-16 years old).
Such kind of trainings allowed children to receive deeper knowledge on the problem, which also helped them to more effectively participate in the contest.
 
The contest included 4 sub-contests: Painting/poster, Slogan, Essay, Presentation (video material or Power Point work).
Children from 9 orphanages of Moscow and Moscow region took part in the contest; around 80 creative works were received by the organizers.
The jury, headed by Mr. Georgiy Timofeev, Deputy Head of the Department for Labour and Employment of the city of Moscow, included representatives of NAAF, state crisis center “Nadezhda” of Department of Family and Youth Policy of Moscow city, Head of the city center “Street Children” and IOM specialists.
After the thorough study of works, the jury has chosen 3 winners (1, 2 and 3rd places) in each sub-contest. On the 26th of May 2008 the participants of the contest and their teachers were invited to the Federation for Peace and Conciliation in Moscow, where the winners in the ceremonial atmosphere collected Certificates, medals and memorable prizes (laptop for 1st place, videocamera for 2nd and photocamera for 3rd. Small gifts - mp3 players - were also presented to all young participants of the contest).
 
The organizers and representatives of governmental and partner organizations in their speeches welcomed the participants of the ceremony. The importance of the issue of prevention of human trafficking among young people in Russia was specially emphasized.
The welcome speeches were made by Mr. Viktor Kamyshanov, the President of the Federation for Peace and Conciliation; Mr. Nikolay Kanatnikov, Head of the Office for Labour Relations of the Department for Labour and Employment of Moscow city (speaking on behalf of Mr. Georgiy Timofeev – head of the jury); Ms. Valentina Suturina from the Department of Family and Youth Policy of Moscow city; Ms. Karina Galustova, specialist of public relations unit of the Department of Information of GUVD of Moscow; Mr. Alberto Andreani, Coordinator of the counter –trafficking project of IOM; Mr. Victor Kulikov, General Director of NAAF; Mr. Nikolaus Schvartsler, Director of Human Rights Institute in Austria.

Social Poster Contest "Human Trafficking. Century XXI"
 
The contest was organized within the counter-trafficking information dissemination initiatives of the project “Prevention of Human Trafficking in the RF” from April till the end of October 2007.
The contest was declared in the project regions, the artistic works were also received from all Russia and from abroad.
The main purpose of the contest was to raise the public awareness of existing forms of human trafficking in the Russian Federation, especially in order to inform the youth of its dangers; to attract more attention to this problem from the position of priority to human rights.
The contest was declared for the students of art schools, art and design faculties of Universities in pilot regions and all over Russia, young designers and painters and all interested and talented people who wanted to give piece of their talent and heart for the purpose of prevention of such inhuman crime as trafficking.
 
On 16th of February the third and final award ceremony for the winners of the regional round of social poster contest "Human Trafficking. Century XXI" was held in Astrakhan.
The ceremony in Astrakhan was organized in the premises of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Astrakhan region.
 
The winners in Astrakhan region were:
1st place - Stanislav Danilov, artist
2nd place - Yulia Troitskaya, designer
3rd place - Svetlana Grigorieva, teacher in Astrakhan College of Art.
 
The ceremony was attended by: D. Batrashov - the Head of the Office of Ombudsman of Astrakhan region; Z. Muratova - the Head of Astrakhan regional branch of the Union of Journalists of Russia; V. Maleev - Director of Astrakhan College of Art; E. Perepelkin - Head of "Oratorium" Crisis Center; specialists of Information and Consultative Center in Astrakhan; young artists and designers. The winners collected monetary prizes, memorable medals and certificates.
 
On 10th of December 2008 the award ceremony for the winners of the social poster contest “Human Trafficking. Century XXI” was held in Petrozavodsk, in Cultural-Business Center of the city.
The ceremony was held within the activities of the City Fair of Services for Migrants, organized for the first time in Petrozavodsk by the Administration of the city of Petrozavodsk, NGO “Karelian Resource Center of Public Organizations”, Bureau of IOM in Moscow with the support of the Ministry on National Policy and Relations with Religious Organizations of the Republic of Karelia (RK), Ministry of Labour and Employment, Federal Migration Service in the RK. The specialists of the Information and Consultative Center of the project in the Republic of Karelia have provided consultations at the stand of ICC during the Fair.
The jury of the regional contest was formed by the representatives of the state structures of the Republic – Administration of the city of Petrozavodsk, Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RK, Ministry of Education, the Committee on Sport and Youth Affairs, artists.
Three winners, who were selected as a result of the joint work of the jury, collected their monetary prizes, award certificates and memorable medals on the 10th of December.
 
The winners in Karelia were:
1st place - Aleksandr Yanusik, art and design journalist from Petrozavodsk
2nd place - Ksenia Metzova, student
3rd place - Roman Ershov, art designer
 
 
The award ceremony for the winners of the social poster contest "Human Trafficking. Century XXI" was held in Moscow House of Nationalities on the 13th of February, 2008.
The social poster exhibition of the best works, selected by the jury of the contest, was opened on the same day.
 
The award ceremony was opened by Mr. Aleksandr Nazarov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Interregional Relations and National Policy of the Moscow city government, who thanked the participants for their efforts in fighting against such evil phenomenon as human trafficking with the help of strong visual images. Mr. Enrico Ponziani, IOM Moscow Chief-of-Mission, in his welcome speech, told about the purposes and the results of the contest. This contest was declared in three regions of the project: Moscow/Moscow region, Astrakhan and the Republic of Karelia as well as with in all of Russia. The contest was open for those the students of art schools, art and design faculties of Universities in the three pilot regions mentioned and covered also the rest of Russia. More than 130 posters from the project regions, all Russia and abroad (for example Ukraine, Lithuania, Bulgaria) were received by the project. There was a first round of selection for the three regions, the Moscow Region, the Republic of Karelia and Astrakhan and the three best from each one of these regions then participated in the final all-Russia round of contest.
In Moscow the final jury, headed by Mr. Georgiy Timofeev, Deputy Head of the Committee for Social Relations of the Moscow city government, selected three best works from more then 130 posters.
 
Mr. Ponziani gave the floor to Mr. Piet Blonde, Project Officer, Institutional Reforms, EU-Russia Cooperation Programme. Mr. Blonde emphasized the necessity of information dissemination about the existence of the problem of human trafficking in the Russian Federation.
Short speech was delivered by Ms. Irina Govorukhina, Representative of the Department for Family and Youth Policy of the Moscow city government.
For many years the Department is organizing in Moscow the well known art contest of students' talents "Festos". Ms. Irina invited all interested participants to take part in this contest, and expressed the willingness to include the theme of Countering the Human Trafficking into the contest under the topic "Social Advertising".
 
The Agency "Laboratory of Social Advertising" provided the information support to the contest, publishing information on their website. Ms. Guzella Nikolayshvilli, Director of the Agency and member of the contest jury spoke very emotionally during the ceremony, saying that "...the word "trafficking" came to the Russian language just recently. And 20 years ago it was impossible to imagine that such problem as human trafficking would exist. The society has to know about such horrible crimes, and in particular social posters with acute, strong social images, which show that the problem exist not somewhere far away but near us, may stop someone from making the fatal flaw".
 
The second part of the ceremony was leaded by Mr. Georgiy Timofeev, Deputy Head of the Committee for Social Relations of the Moscow city government and the head of the jury of social poster contest.
Six winners: 3 of all-Russia round of contest and 3 of Moscow regional round were awarded memorable medals, IOM certificates and money prizes.
 
The first prize (RUR50.000) was collected by two young talented designers from Rostov-on-Don - Yulia Lukianchenko and Elena Kostyrina for their poster "Check".
The second place went to designer from Moscow region Aleksey Andreev for the poster "Woman. XXI Century?"
And the third all-Russia winner was Olga Tsaregorodtseva, art University student from Rostov-on-Don for the poster "Human Commodity".
All winners collected diplomas and memorable books from the Moscow Government and small gifts from the Moscow contest "Festos".
More then 40 posters were exhibited in the Moscow House of Nationalities till the end of February 2008.
